Applications are now open for the Flinders University Queenie Gibbins Scholarship in Science 2025. Mrs Queenie Gibbins, a supporter of the University, has a particular interest in assisting students in emerging areas of scientific study. This scholarship was established to assist with the retention and success of students in these fields of study.
The scholarship is funded by a donation from Mrs Queenie Gibbins.
Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century. Flinders is a verdant university[citation needed] and a member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Group and ranks in the 10-16 bracket in Australia and 36th in the world of those established less than 50 years. Subject to the availability of funds, there will be one or more scholarships awarded annually to a total value of $2,000.
The scholarship is awarded for one year of full-time study (36 units) or its part-time equivalent, subject to the scholarship holder maintaining their enrolment in the relevant degree and satisfactory academic progress.
The scholarship will be paid in instalments at the beginning of each semester.

Selection Criteria
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need and academic merit with preference being given to students studying within the biotechnology field.
Selection will be made in accordance with procedures approved by the Director, Student Administration.
