The aim of this IBRO-MENA school and conference is to introduce students to neurogenomics and to try to bridge the gap between basic neuroscience and clinical practice.
The course consists of a 3-day advanced neurogenetics school followed by a 3-day clinical neuroscience conference. The school aims to introduce the students to the new era of genomics and molecular biology brought by next generation sequencing through practical NGS and Bioinformatics workshops. The conference will be on pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of neurological disorders. The participants will attend didactic lectures given by internationally recognized experts as well as have panel discussions with question and answer sessions. They will also present their research and will get a chance to discuss with faculties.
I have had a unique opportunity to appreciate how effective IBRO is as a really worldwide organization in neuroscience, highly flexible and with minimal bureaucracy. Relying on human power, creativity and generosity, IBRO does not represent any national strategy or policy, and truly gathers all of them. Despite fantastic progress and technological and scientific achievements in brain research, the global village of neuroscience is still far from being global. Lots of work is needed. Marina Bentivoglio, IBRO Secretary General (2007-2009) IBRO is the global federation of neuroscience orga... read more
