Applications for the AIJC Investigative Journalism Masterclass 2025

The African Investigative Journalism Conference (#AIJC2025), a project of the Wits Centre for Journalism (WCJ) in partnership with SKUP,  the Association for Critical and Investigative Press in Norway and Bellingcat will host an intensive training course on the latest investigative journalism techniques, taking place over three days immediately preceding the annual AIJC conference scheduled for 5 to 7 November 2025 at Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The masterclass on digital forensics, OSINT tools, AI and data verification, conducted by the Bellingcat team in English, will run from Sunday 2 to Tuesday 4 November. The Masterclass fellowship also covers attendance of the AIJC conference and training sessions.

Requirements for AIJC Investigative Journalism Masterclass Qualification

  • Masterclass attendance fellowships will be granted to experienced investigative journalists, editors and trainers from African countries, based on their track records and recent work as reflected in their answers below.
  • Fellows can also apply for additional travel and accommodation support (excluding home-country transport, insurance, visas, personal in-country transport, or hotel incidentals).
  • Successful applicants need valid passports and must arrange their own visas if required, and must be available to travel from 31 October/1 November to 8/9/10 November 2025.
