The Department of Tertiary Education Financing (DTEF) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Botswana, has officially announced the call for applications for the 2025/2026 local sponsorship intake. This opportunity is open to qualified citizens of Botswana who wish to pursue tertiary education in critical areas of training at accredited institutions.
Applicants are required to submit their applications online and are allowed to select up to three programme choices. The sponsorship aims to support students by covering academic expenses upon successful validation of eligibility, including citizenship, academic qualifications, and admission status.
Special consideration will also be given to applicants under the Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), Remote Area Communities (RAC), and Special Educational Needs (SEN) categories, in accordance with their respective administrative guidelines.
Botswana, a landlocked country in Southern Africa, has a landscape defined by the Kalahari Desert and the Okavango Delta, which becomes a lush animal habitat during the seasonal floods. The massive Central Kalahari Game Reserve, with its fossilized river valleys and undulating grasslands, is home to numerous animals including giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs.
