The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) is inviting young graduates and early-career professionals from Nigeria, Senegal, and Cape Verde to apply for its Next Generation Internship Programme (NGIP). This six-month internship aims to develop the next generation of African leaders by providing hands-on experience in WACSI’s core areas of Capacity Development, Policy Influencing and Advocacy, and Knowledge Management. Interns will actively participate in WACSI’s activities, enhancing their civic awareness and professional skills to address critical development issues in West Africa.
In response to an identified need for structured practical capacity enhancement for young West Africans, WACSI introduced a Next Generation Internship Programme (NGIP) in January 2008 aimed at developing the next generation of African scholars and practitioners. The programme primarily targets young West Africans, either fresh graduates or early career professionals, seeking work experience in WACSI’s core areas of work. Interns are expected to commit to WACSI for six months during which time they will be fully involved in all WACSI activities and enhance their knowledge and capacities for leadership, knowledge and programme management, and critical development issues for West Africa, among other areas.
The West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI) is a partnership between the University of Ghana (UG) and Cornell University, USA that was established in June 2007 with funding from the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) at the University of Ghana to train Plant Breeders in Africa working on the improvement of African crops in local environments for farmers in Africa.
