CPMH African mental health Researchers InSpired and Equipped (ARISE) at University of Cape Town 2022

Through the ARISE programme, the Alan J Flisher Centre for Public Mental Health seeks to make available one fellowship to support doctoral study at the University of Cape Town. The overall goal of ARISE is to strengthen and extend the postgraduate pipeline in African public mental health by building capacity for mental health research across the lifespan.

Purpose: The ARISE fellowship, funded by the Fogarty International Center at the US National Institutes of Health, was established to provide support for one PhD student to join the Centre for Public Mental Health team in the Department of Psychiatry & Mental Health at the University of Cape Town. We seek excellent applications from qualified South African candidates (or candidates with permanent resident status in South Africa) who are committed to developing public mental health on the African continent. Specifically, we invite applications from candidates who are committed to a research/academic career, interested in research methods and mental health policy, and who have a commitment to capacity building in the field of mental health.
