DAAD scholarship in Germany is a private, federally funded and state-funded, self governing national agency of the institutions of higher education in Germany, representing 365 German higher education institutions (100 universities and technical universities, 162 general universities of applied sciences, and 52 colleges of music and art) [2003]. DAAD EPOS scholarship recipients are enrolled at Charité - Universitätsemedizin Berlin (host institution) in the postgraduate MSc International Health (MScIH).
They begin the scholarship with a German language course in July and then start the MScIH with the Core Course (September to December). The Advanced Modules (20 ECTS) follow from January to Apriln in Berlin. Up to 10 of the 20 ECTS in advanced modules can be completed at our partner universities in Heidelberg (Germany) or Bergen (Norway) during the same time period. The final 4 months of the scholarship (May to August) are spent in Cuernavaca, Mexico, where scholars complete their Master Thesis at the National Institute of Public Health. DAAD EPOS scholarship recipients must complete the MScIH in the 12 month fast track option.
Candidates from low- and middle-income countries who have completed an academic degree (240ECTS/4 years) with far above average results (upper third) and at least two years of related professional experience after the first degree (Bachelor) at the time of application are eligible for a DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) scholarship. The applicant's last academic degree must be less than six years old at the time of application.

4. Letter of Motivation, print and sign personally with a pen, add the current date, then scan to send. IMPORTANT: Maximum 2 pages. When applying for the EPOS scholarship at more than one location (a maximum of 3 locations are possible) submit only one motivation letter to all locations. The letter must explain why you are applying for each of the locations, your ranking and why you are chosing that order of priority.

5. Letter of recommendation from your current / previous employer. The letter must be on company letterhead, must have a personal signature and the official stamp and must have a current date.

6. Certificate(s) of Employment from the employer(s) that prove a minimum of two years of relevant work experience (work after your Bachelor degree) at the time of application. (The certificates must be on letterhead, signed and stamped). If possible, please add a statement from your current employer showing a willingness to re-employ you upon your return after the scholarship.

7. Proof of English Language proficiency: e.g. IELTS (Band 6) certificate or TOEFL (minimum score: 550 paper based, 80 internet based) Exception: Applicants from Botswana, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia or Zimbabwe can submit a certificate from the Dean of Studies of their previous university confirming their whole degree was taught in English instead of an IELTS or TOEFL certificate. This does not apply to applicants from anywhere else and an IELTS or TOEFL certificate must be submitted.
