Halogen Group Cyber Competition for Nigerian Youths (Win Upto 1million) 2023

This Competition seeks to promote cyber security awareness, competencies, and capabilities among Nigerian youths. The competition has also been designed to assist talented and result-oriented youths to grow and maximize their skills, for them to make an impact within the nation’s cybersecurity space.

With the necessary support infrastructure, Halogen in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development intends to use this initiative to create an enabling environment for young people to develop the capabilities to mitigate against cyber-attacks, thereby empowering them to maximize opportunities in cybersecurity space, within and outside Nigeria.

Topics Applicants Will Be Working On

Participants are to select one from the topics highlighted below.

Anti-Ransomware:

Build an Anti-Ransomware that can detect, decrypt and restore

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA):

Build an MFA Software to address this issue, with features that cater to the unreliability/vulnerabilities of applications such as Google Authenticator, Authy, e.t.c

Fraud Detection:

Build a fraud detection software

Email Spam Detection:

Build an email spam filter

Intrusion Detection Systems:

Develop a system to spot malicious or unauthorized users on networks

Requirements for Halogen Group Cyber Competition Qualification

• Applicants must be Nigerian 
• Age range: 18 – 35 years
• Can register as an individual or as a team
• Participants are required to have a github account for uploading their projects Project links should be uploaded via the submission portal. 
• All applicants are expected to turn in their presentation/solution on or before the deadline on or before December 12th, 2022 
• Evaluation will take 2-3 weeks before shortlisting of the finalists for live presentation

Interview date, Process and Venue for Halogen Group Cyber Competition

• All applicants are expected to turn in their presentation(s)/solution(s) on or before the deadline of 12th December 2022
• Evaluation will take place after the deadline
• Finalists will be invited for live presentations
• A panel of judges with expertise in cyber security will review all submissions
• All finalists will be notified via mail
• The list of finalists will be published on our website and our social media platforms
• Each finalist will present their solution(s) to the judges
• The top 3 solutions based on the judge’s recommendation will be presented with the cash prizes
• Where deemed fit, selected submissions may be given an opportunity to further work on proposed solutions with Halogen
