In order to facilitate access to the collection for young researchers from outside Frankfurt, especially from Latin America, who are interested in using this important collection, the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory provides an annual scholarship for a three-month research stay at the Institute.

 

About Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory

For the purpose of advising and supporting its 84 institutes and research facilities the Max Planck Society maintains the Administrative Headquarters in Munich, where the offices of the President and the Vice Presidents are located. The Administrative Headquarters runs the day-to-day business of the Max Planck Society and supports the organs of the Society in preparing and implementing decisions. Aim and Benefits of Max Planck Institute Doucet Scholarship

Specifically, the financial support consists of

  • A scholarship of 1,365 €;
  • Reimbursement of the airfare (up to 1,500 € for transatlantic flights, 750 € for flights within Europe).
  • There is also the possibility of renting a room in the Institute's residences (available for full months and costs approx. 680 € per month).

Requirements for Max Planck Institute Doucet Scholarship Qualification

  • You must be an international student.
  • Accepting applications from Master’s & PhD students and early postdocs.
  • You must be residing outside Frankfurt.
  • Preference will be given to the Latin American scholars.
  • Young researchers may submit proposals on the history of colonial law, directly related to the monographs and editions of sources that make up the Doucet Collection.
