Nordic Scholarship Programme 2026

The Nordic Scholarship Programme, NAI aims to contribute to building capacity in the production of knowledge about Africa, and to promote and establish relations with and between Nordic research communities.

If you are a student or researcher engaged in Africa-focused studies at a University in Sweden, Finland, Denmark or Iceland, the Nordic Scholarship Programme gives you the opportunity to visit NAI for one month.

About The Nordic Africa Institute (NAI)

The Nordic Africa Institute conducts research and offers resources that help further understanding about contemporary Africa. We believe that research-based knowledge and analysis offer a solid base for informed decisions and contribute to the fulfilment of the global development agenda.

The Nordic Africa Institute Scholarship Programme

Aim and Benefits of The Nordic Africa Institute Scholarship Programme

• The scholarship covers travel expenses, accommodation and a subsistence allowance.
• You get access to a workspace in a shared office at the Institute for your one-month stay.

Requirements for The Nordic Africa Institute Scholarship Programme Qualification

• You must be a master student, PhD candidate or postdoctoral researcher in the social sciences or humanities.
• You may apply regardless of citizenship, but you must be affiliated to a university or research centre in Sweden, Finland, Denmark or Iceland.
• You must be pursuing Africa-oriented studies/research.
