University College London 2025 Gatsby Bridging Scholarship for Undergraduates & Masters Students

The Gatsby Bridging Programme is a mathematics summer school for undergraduates and Master’s students (incl. recent graduates) who aspire to pursue a postgraduate research degree in Theoretical Neuroscience and/or Machine Learning but whose predoctoral degree(s) do not have a strong mathematical focus. During the programme, you will develop mathematical intuitions and learn the mathematics skills necessary to enter these fields.

The UCL Gatsby Bridging Summer School 2025 is a fully funded summer program designed for students interested in pursuing postgraduate research in Theoretical Neuroscience and Machine Learning but whose academic background lacks strong mathematical training. The program provides intensive mathematics instruction to help participants develop the necessary skills for these fields.

The UCL Gatsby Bridging Summer School covers:

  • Travel Expenses (to and from London)
  • 6-Month UK Standard Visitor Visa Fee
  • No Program Fees

Requirements for UCL Gatsby Bridging Scholarship Qualification

  • Penultimate- or final-year undergraduate students and Master’s students (including recent graduates)
  • Students whose degrees do not provide strong mathematical training
  • Candidates from underrepresented groups in STEM are especially encouraged to apply


Interview date, Process and Venue for UCL Gatsby Bridging Scholarship

Selection is based on:

  • Interest in postgraduate research in theoretical neuroscience and/or machine learning
  • Educational background (must lack advanced mathematics training)
  • Academic excellence and potential
  • A-level (or equivalent) mathematics knowledge
  • English proficiency
  • Commitment to full-time participation in the program
