2025 Guy Beresford Scholarship for Masters Students at Durham University

Hatfield College is offering the Guy Beresford Scholarship of £15,000 for a full-time  student from the North East of England (including Cumbria) and from a lower income household, to study full-time for a STEM taught masters degree at Durham University, for the year 2025-26.

About Durham University

Durham University (legally the University of Durham) is a collegiate public research university in Durham, North East England, with a second campus in nearby Stockton-on-Tees. It was founded by an Act of Parliament in 1832 and granted a Royal Charter in 1837. It was one of the first universities to commence tuition in England for more than 600 years and claims to be the third oldest university in England (which would make it the seventh or eighth oldest in the UK), although this is disputed. Aim and Benefits of Guy Beresford Scholarship

The Guy Beresford Scholarship of £15,000 provides significant financial assistance for eligible candidates.


Requirements for Guy Beresford Scholarship Qualification

  • Applying for a taught masters course in a STEM subject at Durham University for academic year 2025-26. We welcome applications from those who have not yet received an offer of study but we would need the successful candidate to have received an offer in time for the beginning of the academic year 2025-26.Eligible courses are those based in a Department within the Science Faculty, plus the Master of Science programmes offered by the Department of Archaeology: Bioarchaeology, Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology and Human Bioarchaeology and Palaeopathology and the following from Geography:  MSc in Climate, Risk and Society and MSc in Environmental Hazards and Risks.
  • Have been from a lower income household in the final year of their undergraduate degree, University. This will be tested through evidence of the assessment by Student Finance England of income data made available to the awardee’s University in the final year of their undergraduate studies, or, in the absence of evidence of a recent such assessment, by other relevant means as defined by the University.
  • Be from the North East of England. North-East students, eligible home postcode regions: CA, DH, DL, NE, SR or TS.
