The Young Professionals Programme is a well-structured, unique on-the-job learning and development programme aimed at grooming and nurturing high-potential young professionals from diverse academic backgrounds and specialisations which are aligned to the technical aspects of Intellectual Property (IP), as well as administrative roles and empowering them to contribute to the socio-economic growth and development of their countries.

About African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO)

The African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), formerly African Regional Industrial Property Organization, is an intergovernmental organization for cooperation among African states in patent and other intellectual property matters. ARIPO was established by the Lusaka Agreement of 1976. Aim and Benefits of ARIPO Young Professionals Programme for Africans

• Monthly stipend of US$2,500

• A once-off settling-in grant of an amount equivalent of one month’s stipend, on appointment.

• Free travel (to the host country) on appointment and (to home country) on completion of the programme.

• Medical Aid/Insurance (80% employer and 20% participant)

• Annual leave, sick leave and compassionate leave

• Group Life, Funeral and Accident Cover

• A once-off repatriation grant of an amount equivalent of one month’s stipend on completion of programme. 


Requirements for ARIPO Young Professionals Programme for Africans Qualification

To be eligible for appointment, candidates must be nationals of a Member State of the Organization namely, Botswana, Cape Verde, Kingdom of Eswatini, The Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Kingdom of Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor Degree in any of the following:

  •  Business Studies/Business Administration
  •   Law
  •   Business Analytics/Project Management/Strategy
  •   Telecommunications

• The degree must have been obtained not more than five years before the date of application.

• Candidates must be 28 years or below at the time of application.

• Strong planning, and problem-solving skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently

• Creativity and innovativeness

• Digital literacy

• Excellent written and spoken English
