Training Initiative for Modelling Epidemic Response in Africa (TIMERA) has opened its Call for Applications for a Short-Term Training Fellowship, aiming to enhance public health event detection, scenario planning, and outbreak response through advanced epidemiological modelling and data-driven decision-making.
Training will be delivered through a combination of in-person and online learning. Trainees will participate in two intensive, two week face-to-face blocks, complemented by online modules, thematic workshops, and supervised internships, and will benefit from continuous specialised mentoring.

- Hands-on training in infectious disease modelling

Requirements for TIMERA Short-Term Training Fellowship in Ethiopia Qualification
- Hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) in Public Health, Epidemiology. Biostatistics, Field Epidemiology, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Demography, or Health Informatics.
- Have at least 2 years of post-Master's work experience in a sub Saharan African organisation (preferably a Ministry of Health, NPHI, academic, or research institution). Applicants holding a PhD do not need postdoctoral experience.
- Submit an employer support letter confirming:
- Release time to attend both face-to-face training blocks;
- Access to relevant data for the modelling project; and
- Continued employment for at least 2 years after fellowship completion.
- Be available and able to travel to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to participate in the face-to-face training.
- Not have previously received an EDCTP or Global Health EDCTP3 fellowship.
- Be able to attend both two-week face-to-face training blocks and commit to the 12-month fellowship, including virtual mentoring sessions.
